Towel / cape
Water bowls
Tissues
Cotton buds
Cotton wool pads
Cotton wool ball
Hairdryer

Do not use ready-to-use cleansing cloths.

PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. Then dry the skin with a tissue.

PROCEDURE

Place the latex application on the skin to get an impression of whether the edges are a good fit and where it is going to be glued on. Apply Transparent Powder to where the edge merges into the skin to mark out the exact spot.

Pack some cotton wool into the Latex Nose. This absorbs the perspiration.

Everything that is going to be coloured in a skin tone - except for the edges - must be pre-coloured slightly with red to suggest naturally perfused skin. To do this, apply Grimas Special Effects Powder 504 or a red Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge using a Make-up Sponge or Powder Rouge Brush.

Then use a sponge to apply a covering layer of Grimas Camouflage Make-up Pure in the desired skin shade. Work directly from the stick or spatula. If you want to give the latex prostetic a brighter colour, use Grimas Crème Make-up Pure.

Note: don't use Crème Make-up Pure for skin tones, but use Grimas Camouflage Make-up Pure.

ATTACH

Apply a little Grimas Mastix Extra to the inside of the scales/adhesive edge and allow it to dry for a few seconds. Do the following to get the correct degree of adhesion: press the latex prostetic lightly in place and then remove it again straight away. Wait a few seconds and reposition the application, pressing the edges in place with a tissue.
Protect the eyes by closing them and covering them with a tissue.

To get a smooth transition between the latex prostetic and the skin, even the edges off as follows: apply a thin line of eyelash adhesive to the edge of a sponge and dab this over the transition between the latex prostetic and the skin. Allow to dry with help of a hairdryer until the result is transparent. Repeat this process until a nice and even transition is obtained. Powder it all off with Grimas Transparent Powder or Fixing Powder and then remove any excess powder.

Dab the application with a Stipple Sponge to apply the effect of a skin structure.

To the rest of the face you apply Cake Make-up, also covering the lips and the eyebrows.
CAKE MAKE-UP = Cake Make-up
You apply Cake Make-up with a slightly damp make-up sponge. If you work with too much moisture, streaks will form.
You can press the make-up sponge down onto a tissue to remove any excess moisture.

Take the make-up sponge between the fingertips and squeeze it together to create a round surface. With this surface the make-up can be applied.

MAKE-UP SPONGE = Make-up Sponge
First dab a little Cake Make-up onto the hand to check the colour intensity. Then apply it evenly from top to bottom. Work the Cake Make-up out properly, up into the hairline, and do not forget the ears and neck. This is how you avoid a mask-like effect. Cake Make-up dries quickly, so you need to work quickly to achieve a nice result. If the result is not even, turn the sponge that you worked with over and use the clean side to even out the make-up. Any stripes after drying can be gently rubbed away with a soft tissue or cloth.

To make the eyes stand out more, you can draw black around them.
To make the eyes stand out more, you can draw black around them. You can accentuate crow's-feet by lightening between the drawn lines.

Hint: to make beautiful, thin lines, you mix the Water Make-up with Cleansing Lotion instead of water.

Draw with Water Make-up (Pure) the eyebrows high up on the forehead and add lines around the eyes to make them look bigger. This is how you get a merry effect.

The smile is drawn on the mouth, so it is permanent.

REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

Removing the latex application
Detach the adhesive edge with a cotton bud soaked in Grimas Mastix Remover. Remove the adhesive and make-up residues from the latex prostetic with Mastix Remover.

Removing the make-up
You remove Cake Make-up with Grimas Cleansing Cream or with water and soap (you can also use shampoo). Massage it in briefly and rinse off with lukewarm water.
Do not use Afschmink, as this contains waxes and oils that actually cause the Cake Make-up to adhere to the skin. Cleanse the skin afterwards with cleansing lotion.

CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

If necessary, rinse the Water Make-up clean and wipe the surfaces of the colours dry with clean tissues. Let the make-up dry out in the air and only put the lid back on when the Water Make-up is dry. Store it in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.

Clean the latex prostetic afterwards using water and soap, and powder it with Grimas Transparent Powder after drying (with a dryer, if necessary). Keep in a dark place.
