Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.
Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.
Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.
If the skin is dry or sensitive, than apply a thin layer of Grimas Under Make-up Base: a non-greasy cream with a caring effect. Allow 10 minutes for it to be absorbed before you continue.
Because of the distance and movement, the make-up for the ballerina is exaggerated. To create extra large, cat-like eyes you conceal the natural eyebrows and replace them with eyebrows drawn using Water Make-up. Conceal the natural eyebrows with Eyebrow Plastic.
Use the convex rounded side of the Derma Wax Spatula to take the Eyebrow Plastic out of the jar. By scraping it out, you already make the texture a bit flexible.
Thin eyebrows: apply Eyebrow Plastic with the convex rounded side of the spatula in the direction of the eyebrow hairs, ensuring that no hairs stick out. Smooth the edges flat so that grease and moisture can not get underneath.
Thick eyebrows: comb the eyebrows against the direction of the hairs with an eyebrow brush. Then use the brush to apply Eyebrow Plastic against the direction of the hairs, after which the brush can be used to smooth the hairs in the natural direction. Eyebrow Plastic can then be applied as per the technique for thin eyebrows.
Then dab it all over with a clean Make-up Sponge. This gives a matt effect and also adds a skin-structure effect.
If you want to work with Cake Make-up on top of this, the best thing to do is first apply a layer of Grimas Anti Shine, so that the Cake Make-up adheres properly. This is not needed for Crème Make-up Pure and Camouflage Make-up Pure.
You can press the make-up sponge down onto a tissue to remove any excess moisture.
Take the make-up sponge between the fingertips and squeeze it together to create a round surface. With this surface the make-up can be applied.
Cake Make-up dries quickly, so you need to work quickly to achieve a nice result. If the result is not even, turn the sponge that you worked with over and use the clean side to even out the make-up. Any stripes can be gently rubbed away with a soft tissue or cloth.
Make an eyeliner with Water Make-up (Pure) and use it to draw the eyebrows and the lines around the eye.
Hint: to make beautiful, thin lines, you mix the Water Make-up with Cleansing Lotion instead of water.
When the eyes are fully outlined, they will look smaller. To avoid this, you draw the lower line from the centre of the eye. Extend the eye lines outwards and leave a space between the lines. Apply white Water Make-Up (Pure) between them.
First apply the light colour of Eye Shadow/Rouge on top of the Eyebrow Plastic up to the drawn eyebrow. Next, you make the darker shade of Eye Shadow/Rouge continue outwards.
Mascara
Apply the mascara from where the eyelashes begin right to the ends of the upper and lower eyelashes with a rotating movement. If required, you can apply mascara for a second or third time by brushing along the eyelashes using the brush in the direction of the outer corner of the eye. Repeat applying the mascara until the desired result is achieved. If necessary, brush off with a clean, dry mascara brush afterwards to remove any lumps.
Use the Powder-Rouge Brush to take out Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge in the desired colour. Put the powder brush vertically and tap with the hand to disperse the powder in the hairs so the powder does not just end up on the tips of the hairs. Smooth the colour out with the flat side of the brush, so do not dab it on. Apply the rouge from the central point - on the cheekbone near the outer corner of the eye - parallel to the eye shadow.
Lips
Draw with a pencil to draw the outline of the lips. Use the pencil to correct the contours and the lipstick will then also not run so quickly
Take the Lipstick (Pure) onto a spatula (even if you are working from a stick) and apply it with a lip brush. First colour the middle of the lips and then colour the edges, working from the outside inwards. Dab the result with a tissue to matt it off. For a shiny effect, do not powder off but apply Eye Shadow/Rouge Pearl on top of the lipstick. This also has a fixing effect.
Scrape the Eyebrow Plastic off the skin with the spatula. You remove the make-up with Grimas Cleansing Cream or Multi Remover Pure. Massage it in gently and remove it with a soft tissue. Do not use Afschmink, as this consists of waxes and oils that actually let the Cake Make-up stick to the skin.
Cleanse the skin afterwards with Grimas Cleansing Lotion.
Store the make-up in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.
The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.
You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
