PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. With this you avoid damaging the skin and avoids the risk of infections.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

If, with a wound, the skin surface has to be raised or deformed in some way, then you use Grimas Derma Wax.
First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. Then wipe dry with a tissue.

Use the convex rounded side of the Derma Wax Spatula to take Derma Wax out of the jar. By scraping it out, you already make the texture a bit flexible.

DERMA WAX = Derma Wax
You then make the wax easier to model by applying it to the ball of your thumb and scraping it off again with the spatula two or three times.
The wax must be flexible but also firm and must definitely not be allowed to get too soft and sticky.
MODELLING

Make a fist so that the knuckles stick out and build them up with Derma Wax. Smooth the edges flat so that grease and moisture can not get underneath. Smooth the Derma Wax surface and edges off with the fingertip, using a little bit of Grimas Cleansing Cream.

CLEANSING CREAM / SKINCARE CREAM = Cleansing Cream
Dab all over with a dry, clean make-up sponge. Doing this, you remove the excess Cleansing Cream and you create a skin-texture effect.
Powder the whole with a make-up sponge with Grimas Transparent Powder to matt and fix it; then turn the sponge over and continue dabbing with the clean side until the excess powder has been removed.

MAKING A CUT

To create an 'open wound', the Derma Wax construction has to be 'cut open' with the sharp side of a Derma Wax spatula. Lubricate the tip of the spatula with a little bit of Cleansing Cream. This will allow the spatula to slide more easily through the Derma Wax, preventing it from sticking to the spatula. Make a cut on each knuckle.
Opening the wound edges up allows you to create a tattered effect. Raise the 'wound edges' using a Derma Wax spatula, lightly lubricated with Cleansing Cream. Do this carefully.

To add a suggestion of depth to the 'wound', colour the bottom of the wound using black make-up. Then you colour the inner side of the wound with dark red make-up (Grimas Water Make-up Pure or Crème Make-up Pure).
WATER MAKE-UP (PURE) = Water Make-up Pure
CRÈME MAKE-UP PURE = Crème Make-up Pure
Finally, you add Grimas Blood or Filmblood to get the required effect.

Blood
Apply directly from the tube or with a brush.

You can apply it directly from the bottle.

BLOOD = Blood
FILMBLOOD = Filmblood
Use a Stubble Sponge or a tissue to disperse the blood around the 'wound', if desired.

Hint: apply the (film) blood to the 'wound' until the blood starts to run.

STOPPEL SPONGE = Stubble sponge
REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

Scrape the Derma Wax off the skin with the spatula. Then massage Grimas Multi Remover or Cleansing Cream into the skin and remove the material with a tissue. Cleanse the skin afterwards with Grimas Cleansing Lotion.

MULTI REMOVER = Multi Remover
CLEANSING CREAM / SKINCARE CREAM = Cleansing Cream
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
If Blood, Filmblood or Blood Paste got onto clothing, rinse it out under a tap. Leave the item of clothing to soak in water containing a pre-wash (Biotex). Then wash it by hand or put it in the washing machine.

FILMBLOOD = Filmblood
BLOOD PASTE = Blood Paste
CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
