The choice for a certain base depends - aside from the personal preference of a make-up artist and perhaps the skin type - primarily on the purpose of the make-up.

If the make-up has to keep for an extremely long period (bridal make-up, fashion show) or has to be heat-proof (tropical conditions, bright lights) and waterproof, then Camouflage Make-up is an ideal basis. Camouflage Make-up is used in combination with other basic make-up to hide rings and bags under the eyes, or pimples and spots.

For a very natural effect (young girl, older woman) and for combination skin (greasy areas) Foundation is a nice product with which one can easily work transparent. In this example we are working with a base of Grimas Foundation.

First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. Then wipe dry with a tissue.

With a dry or sensitive skin, you can apply Grimas Under Make-up Base.
Grimas Under Make-up Base is an unperfumed and non-greasy cream, with a caring effect. It is mainly applied underneath make-up in case of dry or sensitive skin, but can also be used as a regular day cream. Take the Under Make-up out of the jar with a plastic spatula and apply the emulsion evenly onto a clean skin. Allow 10 minutes for it to be absorbed before you continue. Close the jar properly after use.

In this example we are working with a base of Grimas Foundation. To determine the proper colour, you can mix it on a plastic spatula and test it on the skin (for example at the throat), if necessary. The optimum colour approaches as much as possible the colour of the own skin.
Squeeze a little foundation out of the tube onto a clean spatula. If you want a more transparent but still mat result, you can mix the Foundation on the spatula with Under Make-up Base.
