PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

There is a wide range of matt shades of Lipstick (Pure), including Base Pure - a clear lipstick that can be mixed with all other shades to make them more transparent.
Beside the matt colours there are many glossy Pearl tints.

If the lips are dry, first apply a thin layer of Grimas Lipstick Base Pure.

If you apply a basis make-up using Foundation or Crème Make-up, work it out over the lips as well.
For older skin, Camouflage Make-up is applied over the edge of the lips to prevent the lipstick leaking into the vertical cracks around the mouth.

Draw with a pencil to draw the outline of the lips. Work from the outside inwards for the upper lip, and from the inside outwards for the lower lip.
With the pencil you can correct the contours and moreover the lipstick will not run quickly.

Hint: if the tip feels hard on the skin and won't draw properly, then warm the tip of the pencil in your hand or sharpen the tip again.

Shape tips:
You can make a large mouth look slightly smaller by not colouring the lips all the way to the edge, not choosing bright colours and not using any gloss.
With thin lips, you apply the lipstick right up to the edge of the lips and you choose a light colour.
Gloss makes the lips look fuller.
Gloss can be applied directly onto the lips or on top of Grimas Lipstick or Lip Pencil to give a glossy result.
Put a little Gloss on a clean plastic spatula and then apply the Gloss with a lip brush or the finger. You can mix the gloss with Grimas Lipstick (Pure) on the spatula.
For a special effect you can mix the clear Gloss with Pearl Eyeshadow on the spatula.

PROCEDURE

Get the subject to tighten their mouth (smiling) to make it full. Draw thin dashes with the pencil and smear them inwards using a brush. Keep the mouth stretched while you apply the lipstick.

Take the Lipstick (Pure) onto a spatula (even if you are working from a stick) and apply it with a lip brush. First colour the middle of the lips and then colour the edges, working from the outside inwards.

Dab the result with a tissue to matt it off.
To make the lips 'kiss-proof', you powder the matt Lipstick (Pure) off copiously with Grimas Fixing Powder. You 'roll' this powder across the lips using a velour powder puff. Allow to settle in and remove the excess powder with a Powder-Rouge Brush.

For a fixating lipstick that has a glossy effect at the same time, you can apply Pearl Eye Shadow over the lipstick.

REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

You remove the Lipstick with Grimas Cleansing Cream or Cleansing Milk.

CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

Store the make-up in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C. You can also wash the (Velour) Powder Puff in the washing machine.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. The Powder and Blusher Brush is cleaned like this too. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
