PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

For a colour photo one does not need to cover the skin with extra amounts of make-up unless that is the effect you are aiming for. To prevent undesirable shiny effects, you apply plenty of powder to the make-up.
APPLYING A BASE

First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. Then wipe dry with a tissue.

With a dry or sensitive skin, you can apply Grimas Under Make-up Base. Allow 10 minutes for it to be absorbed before you continue.

In this example we are working with a base of Grimas Foundation. For a very natural effect (young girl, older woman) and for combination skin (greasy areas) Foundation is a nice product with which one can easily work transparent.

CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
UNDER MAKE-UP BASE = Under Make-up Base
FOUNDATION = Foundation
Apply light-coloured Foundation under the eyes with a latex sponge to highlight and to smooth this entire area.
FOUNDATION = Foundation
To model the face, you accentuate the deeper lying areas using Camouflage or Crème Make-up in a dark colour. You create shadows under the cheekbone, on the temples and beneath the chin.
CAMOUFLAGE MAKE-UP PURE = Camouflage Make-up Pure
CRÈME MAKE-UP PURE = Crème Make-up Pure
Smear out the brush strokes with a latex sponge.
Then you apply Foundation as a base. To determine the proper colour, you can test it on the neck. The optimum colour approaches as much as possible the colour of the own skin.
Squeeze a little foundation out of the tube onto a clean spatula. Work from the spatula using a clean, dry latex sponge or a slightly moist make-up sponge, applying the foundation to the skin in a thin layer.

Work the base out properly, up into the hairline, and do not forget the ears and neck. This is how you avoid a mask-like effect.

FOUNDATION = Foundation
To fix and matt it, you can powder the Foundation off with Grimas Make-up Powder. Make-up Powder is light-coloured but works out transparent.

Make-up Powder can be applied with a Grimas Velour Powder Puff, a Powder Puff or a Powder Rouge Brush. Gently tap the puff or brush on the back of the hand and then apply lightly on top of the make-up.

Allow to settle in and remove the excess powder with a Powder-Rouge Brush.

EYES

Take the required colour of eye shadow out using a brush or applicator. Then you run the eye shadow over your hand to test the colour intensity. In principle, you apply a light-coloured eye shadow to the upper eyelid, a dark colour in the eye fold and a light colour to the eyebrow arch.
Apply the light colour first using the applicator and touch up with a latex sponge. Dark colours (for example in the fold of the upper eyelid) you apply with a brush.

You can make an eyeliner with Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge and a little Cleansing Lotion.

EYESHADOW/ROUGE = Eyeshadow/Rouge
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
Scrape a little Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge loose using a spatula or the back of a brush. Take it up with a brush that has been moistened with Grimas Cleansing Lotion and mix it on the back of your hand. Apply the eyeliner with an MR 1 or MR 2 brush.

Upper eyelash edge: pull the outer corner of the eye upwards a little, get the subject to close their eyes and use a brush to place the eyeliner against the upper eyelashes and apply it from the inner corner outwards. Do not start too close to the inner corner of the eye and stop at the outer corner of the eye. If you want to draw the eyeliner line further, do this while the eyes are open and do not pull the skin. Let the line run a little upwards from a quarter of the way from the end.

If necessary, thicken the drawn line to the desired shape.

EYESHADOW/ROUGE = Eyeshadow/Rouge
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
You touch up the eyebrow using Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge in a suitable colour. Use a brush to take out Eye Shadow/Rouge in the desired colour and determine the colour intensity on the hand before you apply the powder. You comb the eyebrow hair (for example with a clean, dry mascara roller or eyebrow comb) in a downward direction and fill in the upper edge. Use an MS2 or MS4 brush for this (with obliquely cut hairs) Hint: you can also use a brush (for instance R4 or M4) of which you yourself have cut the hairs diagonally.
Work from the centre to the outer areas and do not begin right where it starts. Then you push the hairs upwards and fill in the eyebrow a little from the bottom. Brush up the eyebrows.

Use the brush to apply a thin layer of Eyebrow Fixer to the eyebrows. Use the brush to fix the hairs in the right direction. You can repeat the process several times, each time only using a little of the product.

EYESHADOW/ROUGE = Eyeshadow/Rouge
EYEBROW FIXER = Eyebrow Fixer
If necessary, apply a few loose Pieces of Eyelash. Grimas Eyelashes are used to make the eyelashes fuller or to create an effect. If you want to apply Pieces of Eyelash to the entire eyelash, use a smaller size for the inner corner of the eye and the centre eyelashes and finish with larger pieces towards the outer edge to create an attractive natural effect.

Put some Grimas Eyelash Adhesive on a plastic spatula and take a Piece of Eyelash carefully from the box with fingers or tweezers. Dip the 'root' into the adhesive and place it on the eyelash edge. Work from the inner side outwards and do so quickly, because the adhesive dries quickly. After a few minutes, the white Eyelash Adhesive will automatically turn transparent.

EYELASHES = Eyelashes
EYELASH ADHESIVE = Eyelash Adhesive
LIPS

Apply a strikingly-coloured Lipstick.
Take the Lipstick (Pure) onto a spatula (even if you are working from a stick) and apply it with a lip brush. First colour the middle of the lips and then colour the edges, working from the outside inwards. Dab the result with a tissue to matt it off. To make the lips 'kiss-proof', you powder the matt Lipstick (Pure) off copiously with Grimas Fixing Powder. You 'roll' this powder across the lips with a velour powder puff and you remove any excess powder with a Powder-Rouge Brush.

LIPSTICK (PURE) = Lipstick (Pure)
FIXING POWDER = Fixing Powder
BRUSHES POWDER ROUGE = Brushes Powder/Rouge
Apply a little rouge to the cheekbones.
Use the Powder-Rouge Brush to take out Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge in the desired colour. Put the powder brush vertically and tap with the hand to disperse the powder in the hairs so the powder does not just end up on the tips of the hairs. Smooth the colour out with the flat side of the brush, so do not dab it on.

REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

You can remove the make-up with Grimas Cleansing Cream or Cleansing Milk. Cleanse the skin afterwards with Grimas Cleansing Lotion.

CLEANSING CREAM / SKINCARE CREAM = Cleansing Cream
CLEANSING MILK = Cleansing Milk
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

Store the make-up in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C. You can also wash the (Velour) Powder Puff in the washing machine.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. The Powder and Blusher Brush is cleaned like this too. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
