PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion.

Grimas Artificial Eye is available in blue, brown, green and grey.
ARTIFICIAL EYE = Artificial Eye
Attach the artificial eye to the skin using Grimas Mastix Extra.
Protect the eyes by closing them and covering them with a tissue. Can cause serious damage to the eyes.
MASTIX EXTRA = Mastix Extra
DERMA WAX

Add a thin layer of Derma Wax on the area around the artificial eye.

DERMA WAX = Derma Wax
By scraping it out, you already make the texture a bit flexible.
DERMA WAX SPATULA = Derma Wax Spatula
DERMA WAX = Derma Wax
You then make the wax easier to model by applying it to the ball of your thumb and scraping it off again with the spatula two or three times.
The wax must be flexible but also firm and must definitely not be allowed to get too soft and sticky.
Apply Derma Wax to the skin with the convex rounded side of the spatula and smooth the edges down so that grease and moisture cannot get underneath. Use bits of Derma Wax to mould an upper and lower eyelid around the Artificial Eye.

Dab all over with a dry, clean make-up sponge. Doing this, you remove the excess Cleansing Cream and you create a skin-texture effect.

Powder the whole off with a make-up sponge with Grimas Transparent Powder. Grimas Transparent Powder is a loose powder.
= Transparent Powder
Powder the whole with a make-up sponge with Grimas Transparent Powder to matt and fix it; then turn the sponge over and continue dabbing with the clean side until the excess powder has been removed. Dab with the sponge until the white powder has become transparent.

Making a cut
To create an 'open wound', the Derma Wax construction has to be 'cut open' with the sharp side of a Derma Wax spatula. Lubricate the tip of the spatula with a little bit of Cleansing Cream. This will allow the spatula to slide more easily through the Derma Wax, preventing it from sticking to the spatula.

FINISHING

Opening the wound edges up allows you to create a tattered effect. Raise the 'wound edges' using a Derma Wax spatula, lightly lubricated with Cleansing Cream. Do this carefully.
Colouring: To add a suggestion of depth to the 'wound', colour the bottom of the wound using black make-up.

DERMA WAX SPATULA = Derma Wax Spatula
Then you colour the inner side of the wound with dark red make-up (Grimas Water Make-up Pure or Crème Make-up Pure).
WATER MAKE-UP (PURE) = Water Make-up Pure
CRÈME MAKE-UP PURE = Crème Make-up Pure
Finally, you add Grimas Blood, Film Blood or Blood Paste, depending on the desired effect.

Blood
You can apply it directly from the tube or with a brush. Use a Grimas Stoppel Sponge or a tissue to disperse the blood around the 'wound', if desired.

FILMBLOOD = Filmblood
BLOOD PASTE = Blood Paste
STOPPEL SPONGE = Stubble sponge
Filmblood
Filmblood is available in two colours: light, oxygenated blood (A) and dark, deoxygenated blood (B). You can apply it directly from the bottle. The 100 ml bottle has a special spout top for easy application.

CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

If necessary, rinse the Water Make-up clean and wipe the surfaces of the colours dry with clean tissues. Let the make-up dry out in the air and only put the lid back on when the Water Make-up is dry. Store it in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.

Artificial Eye can be washed with water and soap. Clean the artificial eye if necessary with a cotton bud and Cleansing Lotion.
