PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection. Always work with clean materials.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

Grimas Nose Wax is a malleable material that can be used for creating all sorts of deformations of the nose or chin during make-up. It is less suitable for sticking to mobile parts of the skin; use Grimas Derma Wax for that.

Apply Nose Wax on clean and grease-free skin onto which no cream has been applied.

Apply Nose Wax on clean and grease-free skin onto which no cream has been applied. Degrease the skin where the Nose Wax is going to be applied using Grimas Cleansing Lotion. This will help the Nose Wax stay in place.

(You need not, as is the case with Soft Putty, to prepare the skin with Grimas Mastix Extra and Wool Crepe).

NOSE WAX

Use the convex rounded side of the Derma Wax Spatula to take the Nose Wax out of the jar.

Form a ball with the fingers and press it firmly on the chosen spot. Do not hold Nose Wax in your fingers for long, otherwise the warmth of your hands will make it sticky.
NOSE WAX = Nose Wax
Model the ball in a dabbing way with the fingertip, as you press it continually.
Attention: don't rub.
Once the deformity made with Nose Wax is in the right shape, you can smooth it all off and perfect it with a little bit of Cleansing Cream.

Then you apply skin-coloured crème make-up.
Then you apply skin-coloured crème make-up.
Powder the whole off with a make-up sponge with Grimas Transparent Powder. Then turn the sponge over and continue dabbing with the clean side until the excess powder has been removed.
After powdering off, you can use a stipple sponge to apply a skin structure effect if required.

SHADOWING/HIGHLIGHTING

Light and shadow and use of make-up let you create various types. For ageing we use Crème Make-up Pure because this works out easily and has good fluidic properties.
For shadowing purposes, dark brown is used. Depending on the desired effect and the situation (nearby, far off), you can apply stronger or less strong lines. Important areas for shading are the eye sockets, the temples, the side of the nose and below the cheekbones. The vertical frown wrinkle and the naso-labial ('nose-lip') fold are also important areas to shadow.

You draw the lines with a flat sable-hair brush. By placing it obliquely on the skin you get a sharp edge on one side and a fading effect on the other side. To determine which side should be sharp and which side faded, you start from the centre of the face (nose). Create a fading effect towards the outside. Bags under the eyes are sharp on the lower side and must be faded towards the upper side.

CRÈME MAKE-UP PURE = Crème Make-up Pure
The parts of the face that have not been shaded now seem to have been brought forward. If the non-shaded parts are lightened, this will enhance the effect of bringing those areas "forward". Apply white make-up to the higher parts of the forehead, above the temple, next to the frown wrinkles on the wings of the nose and on top of the nose. The eyebag is also lightened a little.

For ageing we use Crème Make-up Pure because this works out easily and has good fluidic properties.

The shading and lightening must blend into the basic colour in a natural way. If necessary, blur the segments and lines that are to be faded with the fingers or a dry make-up sponge. You do this with a dabbing action, without wiping.
FINISHING

You powder the face off with Grimas Transparent Powder, Fixing Powder or Make-up Powder.

FIXING POWDER = Fixing Powder
MAKE-UP POWDER = Make-up Powder
Apply the powder on top of the make-up. You can do this with a powder puff or a velour powder puff. Allow to settle in and then remove any excess powder with a Powder Rouge Brush.
BRUSHES POWDER ROUGE = Brushes Powder/Rouge
Apply a little rouge to the cheekbones.
Making eyeliner
Scrape a little Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge loose using a spatula or the back of a brush. Take it up with a brush that has been moistened with Grimas Cleansing Lotion and mix it on the back of your hand. Lower eyelash edge: Apply the eyeliner from the outer corner towards the inner side, but leave the inner corner of the eye free.
EYESHADOW/ROUGE = Eyeshadow/Rouge
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
Upper eyelash edge: Pull the outer corner of the eye a little upwards, let the eyes be closed and place with the brush the eyeliner against the upper eyelash from the inner corner to the outer side. Do not start too close to the inner corner of the eye and stop at the outer corner of the eye.

Eyeshadow
Take the required colour of eye shadow out using a brush or applicator. Spread the eye shadow out on the back of your hand and then work from the hand to get the right amount. Apply the light colour first using the brush and touch up with a latex sponge. The dark colours (for instance, in the fold of the upper eyelid) you apply after this.

Lips
Draw with a pencil to draw the outline of the lips. Work from the outside inwards for the upper lip, and from the inside outwards for the lower lip. Take the Lipstick (Pure) onto a spatula (even if you are working from a stick) and apply it with a lip brush. First colour the middle of the lips and then colour the edges, working from the outside inwards. Dab the result with a tissue to matt it off.

REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

Scrape the Nose Wax off the skin with the spatula. Then massage Grimas Multi Remover Pure or Cleansing Cream into the skin and remove the material with a tissue.

CLEANSING CREAM / SKINCARE CREAM = Cleansing Cream
Cleanse the skin afterwards with Grimas Cleansing Lotion.

CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

Store the make-up in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
