PREPARATION

Before starting, you ensure your hands and nails are well cleaned. File your nails if necessary, so that there are no snags. By doing this you prevent damages on the face and risk of infection.

Always work using clean materials (sponges, brushes, spatulas, water bowls) and change the water regularly.

Get the subject to put on any clothes beforehand that have to be put on over the head. Protect your models clothing with a hairdressing cape or a towel.

Grimas Latex Prosthetics are used to achieve a three-dimensional effect when doing the make-up.
First degrease and clean the skin you are going to be working on with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. Then dry the skin with a tissue.

PUT ON THE LATEX APPLICATION

Apply a little Grimas Mastix Extra to the inside of the scales/adhesive edge and allow it to dry for a few seconds. Do the following to get the correct degree of adhesion: press the latex prostetic lightly in place and then remove it again straight away. Allow the glue to dry for 15 seconds and then place the latex prostetic back on the skin.

Use a pin-tail comb to hold the scaly edges properly in place and glue them straight.

Press the edges down firmly with a tissue.
Everything that is going to be coloured in a skin tone - except for the edges - must be pre-coloured slightly with red to suggest naturally perfused skin. To do this, apply Grimas Special Effects Powder 504 or a red Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge using a Make-up Sponge or Powder Rouge Brush.

CAKE MAKE-UP

You apply Cake Make-up with a slightly damp make-up sponge. If you work with too much moisture, streaks will form.
You can press the make-up sponge down onto a tissue to remove any excess moisture.

Take the make-up sponge between the fingertips and squeeze it together to create a round surface. With this surface the make-up can be applied.

First dab a little Cake Make-up onto the hand to check the colour intensity. Then apply it evenly from top to bottom.

Cake Make-up can also be applied with a brush.

APPLYING MAKE-UP

Take the required colour of eye shadow out using a brush or applicator. Spread the eye shadow out on the back of your hand and then work from the hand to get the right amount.

In principle, you apply a light colour to the upper eyelid, a dark colour in the eye fold and a very light colour to the eyebrow arch (highlight).

Eyeshadow/Rouge and Pearl Eyeshadow are very colour-intensive.

Next, you make the darker shade of Eye Shadow/Rouge continue outwards.

With the aid of Cleansing Lotion you can make an eyeliner from Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge.

Scrape a little Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge loose along the side of the cup using a spatula or the back of a brush.

Take it up with a brush that has been moistened with Grimas Cleansing Lotion and mix it on the back of your hand.

Upper eyelash edge: pull the outer corner of the eye upwards a little, get the subject to close their eyes and use a brush to place the eyeliner against the upper eyelashes and apply it from the inner corner outwards. Do not start too close to the inner corner of the eye and stop at the outer corner of the eye. Let the line run a little upwards from a quarter of the way from the end.
Lower eyelash edge: apply the eyeliner with a brush from the outer corner towards the inner side, but do not finish too close to the inner corner of the eye.
When the eyes are fully outlined, they will look smaller.
To get the stubble effects you use a Stubble Sponge.
STOPPEL SPONGE = Stubble sponge
Apply the make-up using a slightly moist sponge. Water Make-up (Pure) works basically the same way as watercolour paints.
Hold the Stubble Sponge between the fingers and compress it gently, so that it becomes a bit convex. Then work dabbing onto the skin: do not use a brushing motion, since you would remove the structured effect.

Take the Lipstick (Pure) onto a spatula (even if you are working from a stick) and apply it with a lip brush.

Apply a little rouge to the cheekbones.
Use the Powder-Rouge Brush to take out Grimas Eyeshadow/Rouge in the desired colour. Put the powder brush vertically and tap with the hand to disperse the powder in the hairs so the powder does not just end up on the tips of the hairs. Smooth the colour out with the flat side of the brush, so do not dab it on.

REMOVING THE PRODUCTS

Detach the adhesive edge with a cotton bud soaked in Grimas Mastix Remover. Remove the adhesive and make-up residues from the latex prostetic with Mastix Remover.

You can remove the make-up with Grimas Cleansing Cream or Cleansing Milk. Massage it in gently and remove it with a soft tissue.

Do not use Afschmink, as this contains waxes and oils which actually adhere the Water Make-up to the skin.
Do not use ready-to-use cleansing cloths.

CLEANSING CREAM / SKINCARE CREAM = Cleansing Cream
CLEANSING MILK = Cleansing Milk
Cleanse the skin afterwards with Grimas Cleansing Lotion. If the skin feels dry after cleaning, you can apply a care cream.
CLEANSING LOTION = Cleansing Lotion
If Water Make-up gets onto clothing, rinse it out under a tap. Leave the item of clothing to soak in water containing a pre-wash (Biotex). Then wash it by hand or put it in the washing machine.
When used properly, the latex prostetics can be re-used several times. Remove the adhesive and make-up residues from the latex prostetic with Mastix Remover. Clean the latex prostetic afterwards using water and soap, and powder it with Grimas Transparent Powder after drying (with a dryer, if necessary).
Keep in a dark place.

CLEARING UP THE MATERIALS

If necessary, rinse the Water Make-up clean and wipe the surfaces of the colours dry with clean tissues. Let the make-up dry out in the air and only put the lid back on when the Water Make-up is dry.

Store the make-up in a dry and cool place until the next time you use it.

The sponges are disposable so you can throw them away after use. If you do want to reuse them, first rinse them under the tap with some soap or shampoo or wash them in the washing machine (in a net bag or pillow case), set to at least 60°C.

You can clean brushes with water and soap or shampoo. Put the moist hairs of the brushes back into shape by hand after washing. Dry the brushes lying flat on a towel and do not place them upright, since that causes the moisture to run down into the shaft.
